College Football Pick ‘Em- Bowl/Playoff Games

Conference Championship Week-

Josh: 5-2

Ozzie: 3-4

Overall Record:

Josh: 101-55

Ozzie: 100-56

-Bowl Week-

Its been a few weeks, but we’re back with the final Pick ’em of the year for the most important bowl games this season. It’s been close all year and it all comes down to these last few games. We might pick the title game if it ends in a tie, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. We’ve got some fun games to pick this week, including the New Years 6 bowls and Playoff games, lets get into it.

Cheez-it Bowl, TCU Vs Cal-

Ozzie- TCU

Gary Patterson is very good at getting teams prepared after a long rest. TCU wins by 7+

Josh- TCU

I think the frogs end this strange season on a high note.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Miami Vs Wisconsin-

Ozzie- Miami

The U’s defense is top notch. Can they control LOS against talented Wisconsin team? I believe so.

Josh- Wisconsin

I think the Badgers can win the trenches and take this one.

Texas Bowl, Baylor Vs Vanderbilt-

Ozzie- Baylor

Bears finish year strong and a get a big bowl victory.

Josh- Vanderbilt

Baylor probably feels like their too good to play Vandy, although they’ve been nothing for 3 years now…

Camping World Bowl, West Virginia Vs Syracuse-

Ozzie- Syracuse

No Grier. Big problem for WVU. Give me Dino Babers and company.

Josh- Syracuse

I hate this trend of players skipping bowl games, it will bit the Mountaineers in this game.

Alamo Bowl, Iowa State Vs Washington State-

Ozzie- Washington State

Mike Leach and company continue their torrid pace of offense and beat ISU.

Josh- Iowa State

I trust Matt Campbell to have his team prepared. His defense is known to stop air raid offenses, Cyclones when a close one.

Liberty Bowl, Missouri Vs Oklahoma State-

Ozzie- Missouri

Mizzou and their offense is too much of OSU.

Josh- Oklahoma State

Similar to TCU, I think the Cowboys finish off their strange season with a W.

Citrus Bowl, Kentucky Vs Penn State-

Ozzie- Penn State

Penn State finishes a very roller coaster year and gets their 10th win.

Josh- Penn State

My Nittany Lions didn’t get where I thought they would this year… But if you think I’m bailing on Trace McSorley right night than you are McSorely mistaken!

Gator Bowl, NC State Vs Texas A&M-

Ozzie- Texas A&M

The Aggies finish their season on a good note. Maybe that big recruiting class coming in can help push them to a higher level next year……

Josh- Texas A&M

Kellon Mond has a big game to lead the Aggies to a close victory.

Chick Fil’a Peach Bowl, Florida Vs Michigan-

Ozzie- Michigan

Shea Patterson rebounds after a rough finish to season. Keep Harbaugh around a bit longer.

Josh- Michigan

I haven’t once this year thought that Florida was actually good. This one could get ugly.

Fiesta Bowl, LSU Vs UCF-

Ozzie- LSU

No Milton causes a big issue for UCF. Their win streak comes to an end and they snapback to reality. LSU by double digits.

Josh- UCF

Im a believer in the Knights. They win another big time bowl and the momentum for expanding the playoffs only grows.

Rose Bowl, Washington Vs Ohio State-

Ozzie- Ohio State

I believe this offense is too much and they come out to prove a point to the CFP committee.

Josh- Ohio State

A Buckeye blowout will also serve as momentum to expand the playoffs.

Sugar Bowl, Texas Vs Georgia-

Ozzie- Texas

Sam Ehlinger had a month to get healthy. This senior class wants to finish with a 10 win season. Herman and company make a big statement.

Josh- Georgia

I truly believe in this Texas team, I think they will be a possible playoff team next year. But this year, they’re over matched against a Georgia team.

Orange Bowl and College Football Playoff Semi-Final, Alabama vs Oklahoma-

Ozzie- Alabama

Tua going “full send” is a big issue to Oklahoma’s defense. Will be a shootout but Alabama is too deep.

Josh- Alabama

This one will be extremely close. Last team with the ball likely wins.

Cotton Bowl and College Football Playoff Semi-Final, Clemson Vs Notre Dame –

Ozzie- Clemson

Trevor Lawrence and company setup ANOTHER matchup between Bama and Clemson.

Josh- Clemson

Notre Dame had a phenomenal season, but they aren’t ready for Clemson.

Texas Tuesday

I’m going to keep this one rather short as well. I have plenty on my plate this week with my wedding and honeymoon all happening in the next 14 days. So I won’t post a Texas Tuesday next week (12/4) and won’t be back to post my thoughts on the Big 12 Championship until the following Tuesday (12/11).

That game against Kansas wasn’t the prettiest but ladies and gentlemen, we got the job done. All we needed to do was simply leave Lawrence with a W and we did exactly that.

The offense was stagnant all day long and the defense grinded their way without one of the best defenders on the field (again). Friday was easily the worst of the season for Sam, but he still flashed signs of the brilliance we’ve seen all season long. I was rather surprised of how few touches that LJH had during this game, may have been in the Jayhawks game plan to limit the touches of LJH.  From the way it looked, Sam’s shoulder may have hindered his ability a tad and somewhat limit to what we were wanting to do on offense. His ability to run the ball and establish himself on the ground really is able to open up what we want to accomplish through the air. Critics that knocked Sam for not being able to throw the deep ball must not have watched all season long because he’s 2nd in the NCAA (behind Tua of course) in passer rating on deep passes. (PFF College)

What a day from Jeff McCullough this past weekend in Lawrence, we’ve been anxiously waiting for The Shark to be let loose and he didn’t disappoint. The interception that he had was one of the most athletic plays of the season on either side of the ball. Another wonderful performance from the Safety positions from Caden Sterns and Brandon Jones.
The one thing that needs to happen for our defense this upcoming week must be their ability to LIMIT Kyler Murray and the Sooners offense. Now I know it’s extremely difficult to completely shut them down, but if we can limit their big play ability and slow down their run game then the same results can occur. Our entire defensive unit must play their best game of the year this Saturday in order for us to sweep Oklahoma and claim the Big 12 Championship.

UP NEXT:

Big 12 Championship

#9 Texas Longhorns (9-3, 7-2) vs #5 Oklahoma Sooners (11-1, 8-1) at 11:00am CST on December 1stAT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas

PREDICTION:

This is going to be a tough one to pick.

Which Texas defense comes out?
Will OU’s defense continue to let their opponent run wild and score in bunches?
Who outplays the other? Sam Ehlinger or Kyler Murray?
Will this game come down to the wire again?

It ultimately comes down to who can control their emotions the best in this game. It’s NOT the Red River Showdown but this is just as important. This game can definitely be the turning on the tide for UT and could potentially mean a playoff berth for OU. Just because it’s not being played at The Cotton Bowl doesn’t mean that there’s going to be any bad blood lost. This game will still be chippy and very intense.

I believe that Tom Herman and company will finish their goal and finish the week 1-0. Give me the Longhorns in a shootout.

Texas Longhorns – 45

Oklahoma Sooners – 35

Ok, cool.

College Football Pick ’em- Week 13

Week 12-

Josh: 7-4

Ozzie: 5-6

Overall Record-

Josh: 88-48

Ozzie: 90-46

Week 13-

Week 12 was a wild one for our predictions here on the blog… It’s been close all season, and should stay the same as we wind down… Some great games to pick from this week!

Miss State @ Ole Miss-

Ozzie- Mississippi State

This is always a fun and nasty game. I think the Dawgs are just a tad better and will get that W.

Josh- Mississippi State

MSU has been the more consistent team all season, I think they pull out a close win.

UCF @ South Florida-

Ozzie- UCF

I’m honestly kind of tired of hearing about UCF but there’s there not enough there at USF to get the win.

Josh- UCF

South Florida simply doesn’t have the juice to keep up here. UCF continues to be a thorn in the committees side.

Oklahoma @ West Virginia-

Ozzie- West Virginia

I think that the last team to have the ball in their hands win this game. I mean OU gave up 40 to Kansas…WVU could put up 100… *cue John Denver*

Josh- West Virginia

I just do not trust that OU defense. WVU wins a shootout.

Washington @ Washington State-

Ozzie- Washington State

Mike Leach and the boys keep the train going. Gimme WAZZU by 10+.

Josh- Washington State

Im nervous about this one, but I think Mike Leach will pull out the tricks and win a close one.

Michigan @ Ohio State-

Ozzie- Michigan

If Ohio State doesn’t watch Urban’s mannerisms he might legit blow his brains out. Michigan easily.

Josh- Michigan

Shea Magic will be in full effect. Michigan wins a gets one step closer to reaching the CFP.

Georgia Tech @ Georgia-

Ozzie- Georgia

GaTech tries to control clock by that triple option formation, but Georgia is too much.

Josh- Georgia

I SO want to be wrong here so that the SEC’s playoff situation can be thrown all out of whack, but I can’t go against the Dogs here.

Florida @ Florida State-

Ozzie- Florida

Probably the least intrigued I’ve been about this game in a long time. Gators pull out a victory in this rivalry game.

Josh- Florida State

Could the Seminoles have figured some things out against BC last week? I think they get this win and continue their Bowl streak.

Auburn @ Alabama-

Ozzie- Alabama

Ah, The Iron Bowl. Alabama is just too good this year for it to really make an impact. Bama by double digits…AGAIN

Josh- Alabama

I’m not gonna be the guy to pick against Bama… But I think this is closer than most think. Maybe even OT.

South Carolina @ Clemson-

Ozzie- Clemson

I think this game will be closer than people think. Always love intense rivalry games. Clemson wins with big 4th quarter.

Josh- Clemson

Blowout city.

Texas @ Kansas-

Ozzie- Texas

Ehlinger is good to go. Defense riding the wave of last weekend. Horns handle easily and setup matchup against WVU/OU in Jerry’s World.

Josh- Texas

One win away from a Big12 Title game, UT will make easy work of the Jayhawks.

Baylor Vs Texas Tech (AT&T Stadium, Arlington Tx)-

Ozzie- Texas Tech

Yay. Let’s attempt to fill Jerry World with a game that is kinda blah. Kliff fighting for his job…although it might be gone already..

Josh- Baylor

This pains me. My hatred for Baylor is second only to my love for Texas Tech. But this season has spiraled out of control, no QB is healthy, and Kliff is likely coaching his final game for Tech. Brighter days ahead, I hope.

LSU @ Texas A&M-

Ozzie- LSU

I mean LSU’s offense isn’t very good but their defense is. I think they force a few turnovers and make this a somewhat easy victory.

Josh- Texas A&M

The yearly battle to see who is more overrated… This year, its LSU.

Oklahoma State @ TCU-

Ozzie- Oklahoma State

Go Pokes. They’re my new 2nd favorite team. Thanks for that gift last week.

Josh- Oklahoma State

Which OSU team shows up? Likely the one thats good enough to score 28 points, which is more than enough to beat TCU.

Texas Tuesday

I’ve decided since it’s a short week I won’t dig too deep into this game against ISU but instead rather focus on the upcoming game against Kansas.

The biggest question looking into the final week of the regular season for the Longhorns will be whether Sam Ehlinger will be full go and ready to go by Friday. That shoulder is the most talked about body part talked around the conference right now. If Sam isn’t 100% by this Friday, there’s no need to rush him back. We don’t need a 80% Ehlinger running out there and potentially damaging more and be done for the year. Now don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying we can afford to rest Sam if he’s 100%. We aren’t at that point as a program where we can afford to let someone sit just to sit, but I fully believe that Shane Beuchele can handle the workload this weekend in Lawrence if it came down to it. Now I believe that the only way the Longhorns can win the Big 12 is with Sam Ehlinger at QB. Can Shane get us to December 1st and give Sam another week to prepare for the Mountaineers or Sooners, yes he can.
Will the run game be hindered by Beuchele being the QB instead of Ehlinger? 100% it will be. Teams don’t necessarily respect Shane as a runner as much as they do Sam. But can Watson/Ingram continue to get their yardage and run behind that OL that has been manhandling people in the past few weeks. Our offense for the first time in a long time, isn’t the reason we aren’t successful. For a lack of better words/saying, this offense has carried the load for this team all season long. If Lil’Jordan Humphrey is still lined up as a WR, I like our chances to score against anybody. The man has done nothing but simply put his name on the list at one of the best WR’s to step on campus on UT.

The defense will need to continue their play from last weekend against ISU to really dominate and force the Jayhawks into an early hole. This same Jayhawk offense just put up 40 on that defense dominant defense of OU (LOL)
The front 7 of UT will need to continue their dominant presence and get to the QB just like they did against Purdy and the Cyclones. The pressure that Orlando and the staff dialed up at DKR last weekend was unreal, it didn’t seem like ISU could ever get comfortable in running their offense. When the DL is doing their job and forcing offense to rush their reads and not get comfortable, it makes life a whole lot easier on those guys in the secondary.

This trip to Lawrence has an entirely different feel than the last time we made the trip to play the Jayhawks. The program is headed in a direction that is clear to the fanbase and recruits across the country. `Show up and play the type of football we are capable of and we will leave and have 8 days to prepare for the Big 12 Championship game. It’s simple. Go 1-0.

#11 Texas Longhorns (8-3, 6-2) at Kansas Jayhawks (3-8, 1-7)

Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas

PREDICTION:

The Kansas Jayhawks roster will basically be auditioning for their new Head Coach next year in Les Miles in this game. Expect them to come out and not have the Thanksgiving hangover and be fully prepared to give Texas its’ best shot. Now how long they will be able to hang around with Texas relies on Texas. If the Longhorns can come out and control the LOS and make their presence felt from the opening kickoff then I don’t see this being a close game. But this Jayhawk offense is the same one who just hung 40 on Oklahoma. This once again, all relies on who will be lined up at QB for the Longhorns. I believe the Longhorns want their shot again at West Virginia and to prove they are that good and potentially beat Oklahoma again. I fully expect Tom Herman and the staff to have this group ready to go and get the job done and leave Kansas with an easy win.

Texas Longhorns – 38

Kansas Jayhawks – 17

Ok, cool.

College Football Pick ‘Em – Week 12

Week 11-

Josh: 9-3

Ozzie: 12-0

Overall Record-

Josh: 81-44

Ozzie: 85-40

-Week 12-

Thanks to SEC candy scheduling, this week is not one of the more exciting ones of the season. But we’ll do out best to make it interesting with these picks.

Notre Dame Vs Syracuse (Yankee Stadium)-

Ozzie- Notre Dame

I think this is probably Notre Dame’s last test before their National Semifinal game.

Josh- Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish will be ready for this one.

West Virginia @ Oklahoma State-

Ozzie- West Virginia

I really would be okay if the Pokes somehow came away with another victory. Please for the sake of Longhorn fans. But I got WVU winning.

Josh- West Virginia

I haven’t wavered on my Big12 Title prediction, I think WVU rolls.

Boston College @ Florida State-

Ozzie- Boston College

I mean FSU struggles will continue. BC bounces back from a tough loss last week to Clemson.

Josh- Florida State

I think FSU gets this one, will be their best win of the season.

Wisconsin @ Perdue-

Ozzie- Purdue

I think the Boilermakers do just enough to get this victory.

Josh- Wisconsin

Too much drama around Brohm right now.

Miami @ Virginia Tech-

Ozzie- Virginia Tech

In a game that might’ve been really intriguing at the beginning of the year. Now it’s sort of a game to where it’s basically saving a season.

Josh- Virginia Tech

I really don’t have a good feel for this one. I’ll go with VT though.

Cincinnati @ UCF-

Ozzie- Cincinnati

I believe the miracle run for UCF ends this weekend. I think Cincy’s defense is very underrated and Cincy will stifle UCF of sorts. Bearcats by 6.

Josh- UCF

I don’t think anyone really expected Cincy to be this good this season, I don’t think they are ready for UCF.

Utah @ Colorado-

Ozzie- Utah

I think Colorado is running out of gas. I mean after a solid 5-0 start, they are 0-5 in their last 5. Fighting for a bowl game and not to lose a 6th, I think they fail. Utes by 10+.

Josh- Utah

Oh, Colorado… The Texas Tech of the Pac12, always start the season off hot only to fall apart down the stretch.

Stanford @ Cal-

Ozzie- Stanford

It depends which Stanford team comes out, but I think either way the Cardinal win a tough matchup against an in-state rival.

Josh- Stanford

I don’t think either of these teams are very good, but I’ll go with Stanford pretty confidently.

UAB @ Texas A&M-

Ozzie- Texas A&M

I think the Aggies have been playing it close as of late, and they’ll be in for another tough game. But I don’t think UAB has enough firepower to win this game. Prove me wrong UAB…

Josh- Texas A&M

Honestly, UAB is pretty good. I wouldn’t be shocked to see an upset here, but I can’t predict it.

TCU @ Baylor-

Ozzie- TCU

I believe not having Charlie Brewer for the first half will really hinder Baylor and what they want to do on offense. So give me TCU in a close game.

Josh- TCU

Neither of these teams are very good, and I’d be lying if I said that doesn’t make me pretty happy.

Texas Tech @ Kansas State-

Ozzie- Texas Tech

Can ole Bill Snyder be able to stifle the Tech offense? Nah I don’t think so. Give me Tech by 10+.

Josh- Texas Tech

I’m actually a bit worried here. Tech is known to fumble away games late in the season. I think they get the W, but could be closer than we’d like.

Iowa State @ Texas-

Ozzie- Texas

Horns are struggling on defense and Todd Orlando needs to get things situated. So give me a rejuvenated defense and a rockin DKR on Senior Night. Horns win and keep Big 12 Championship hopes alive.

Josh- Iowa State

Cyclones are so well-coached, you know they’ll be ready to go against the Longhorns. I think the get the W and continue towards the Big12 Title game.

Texas Tuesday

Survive and advance.

What a game it was on Saturday out in Lubbock. It shouldn’t have been that close whatsoever but as long as the Horns come out with a victory that’s all that matters. It was definitely a game of wild offense and we expect nothing less to come from a friendly Big 12 Rivalry.

Offense.
Ladies and gentleman, Sam Ehlinger is the man. I’ve said this repeatedly the past 10 weeks but goodness gracious, the QB play from this guy gets better and better every week. Is there still flaws in his game? Absolutely. But the flaws are really being overshadowed by all the strengths that he’s been showing this year. He continues to walk out basically every week and account for at least 3-4 TD’s. It really helps when you have a “DUDE” at WR that goes by Lil’Jordan Humphrey. In a game where dominant WR’s were abundant LJH made his claim for best WR in the Conference. Another solid performance by Devin Duvernay who was able to provide that extra set of trustworthy hands with Collin Johnson being out for the game. Duvernay along with Jerrod Heard provided those extra catches and looks that Johnson would take from the defenses. The offense was able to rush from a net of 157 yards which is 46 yards lower due to the 5 sacks of Sam Ehlinger. 203 yards gained on the ground is another dynamic performance by all 3 of those main rushers on our team. Keontay Ingram once again led the way with 80+ yards and 1 TD. Tre Watson and Ehlinger both chipped in 55+ yards on the ground and really establish that ground attack when we needed to.
Also want to give a S/O to Malcolm Epps for getting his first career catch as a collegiate WR. This kid can be very special for us in the future if he’s able to grow into his body and add some extra LBS.

Defense.
What has gone wrong for Todd Orlando and the boys since the 4th quarter of the OU game? I personally believe it’s a collection of many different things than have aided this struggle as of late. For one we avoided the injury bug all year up until the end of the OU game. Now since then it feels as if at least 4-5 of our defensive starters are going to be gametime decisions every week.
-Breckyn Hager
-PJ Locke III
-Caden Sterns
-Davante Davis
-Jeff McCulloch
-Charles Omenihu
-Brandon Jones

All of these players have missed time due to some sort of injury in the last 4 weeks. When you take a step back and look at this, it could be as simple as not having your guys out there. But then again, if we want to be an ELITE program again then we have to be able to have the next man up mentality and be ready when their name is called.
To this game last weekend though, I personally believe Davante Davis had his best game of his career at Texas. Being able to contribute with 2 turnovers forced on his own (1 fumble, 1 interception) was huge also along with being able to play downfield and have multiple tackles for loss was really crucial to a secondary that needed somebody to step up big. After David was injured, Anthony Cook had to come in and replace Davis at CB. Cook listed at 6’ 0” was tasked with the difficult assignment of shadowing TJ Vasher who is listed at 6’ 6”. Cook struggled the rest of the evening but that’s been something that Vasher has taken advantage of all year. (S/O 940 and Wichita Falls) Along with Davis, Gary Johnson also was huge for the Longhorns. Johnson being able to patrol sideline-to-sideline is so crucial for a defense that wants to be successful in this conference. Team high 9 tackles and also 1.5 sacks were something that we needed in a game of this caliber. When all is said and done, Todd Orlando has the talent around this defense when fully healthy to be a big-time defense. Let’s hope we can turn it around with a few weeks left in the season.

Special Teams.
Cameron Dicker
was again perfect on PAT’s (5-5) and FG’s (2-2, 52yds and 46yds)
Honestly, that’s about the extent of any important special teams play lol
Ryan Bujcevski punted 3 times and none were downed inside the 20 yard line, although field position didn’t play much of a factor in this game, I do believe Bujcevski has gotten better throughout the year and will continue to grow.

UP NEXT:
Saturday November 17th & 7:00pm CST on Longhorn Network (Wondering if Big Brother, ESPN takes over rights and gets the game instead)

#18 Iowa State Cyclones (6-3, 5-2) @ #13 Texas Longhorns (7-3, 5-2)

Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas

PREDICTION:

Another important game for the Longhorns, as they play their 500th game at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium on Senior Night in Austin. The Longhorn Nation fanbase, I fully expect to be out in full-force once again at I predict another sellout crowd of 100,00+.

It’s time to put up or shut up. We need to continue to handle our business and hope that WVU can beat OU in Morgantown the day after Thanksgiving.

Which UT defense will show up?
Will Brock Purdy continue his dominance?
Will Ehlinger continue to be out of this world good?

This is going to be one physical football game. I think one thing that will definitely hurt ISU is not having their All Big-12 performer in David Montgomery for the 1st half due to his suspension/ejection against Baylor last weekend.

Texas Longhorns – 31

Iowa State Cyclones – 17

Ok. Cool

MLB End of Year Awards Predictions

Hey guys, Ozzie here.

I wanted to do one last blog on MLB before the End of Year Awards are announced and we have to wait until Spring Training for baseball action again…107 days until New York Yankees first Spring Training game!!

NL Rookie of the Year- Ronald Acuna Jr.

I mean Juan Soto attempted to make a run at this award but there was no way that after what Acuna did to lead this Braves team to the postseason that he doesn’t win this award. He was a solid force at the leadoff spot for the Braves all year and how can we forget his tremendous run of 5 straight games with a HR? The youngest player to ever accomplish that feat…at 20 years old…I repeat….20…years…old…

AL Rookie of the Year- Miguel Andujar

This might be a closer race than the NL ROY race simply because I believe Ohtani will take some votes away due to what he was able to do this year also. Ohtani is a rare breed of a player and if he can return to full health and avoid getting TJ Surgery then he could be a phenomenal talent. But what Andujar did this year was absolutely incredible also, setting the record for doubles by a Yankees rookie with 47 and also tying Fred Lynn with the most all-time. Along with those double he added 2 triples and 27 HR’s bringing the total number of XBH to 76.

NL Cy Young – Jacob DeGrom

Speaking of incredible seasons, this has to be near the top of the list. What a season by Jacob DeGrom who had an incredible ERA of 1.70 with 217 innings pitched this year. To put that into perspective, he only allowed 48 TOTAL RUNS ALL YEAR and only 41 of those being EARNED RUNS. That a crazy 1 earned run allowed every 5 1/3 innings pitched. The only person giving him a running to maybe win this award is Max Scherzer. Another season with 300 strikeouts is almost laughable at this point. But there’s no way that the voters can say that DeGrom wasn’t the best pitcher in the NL all year long.

AL Cy Young – Blake Snell

This again should be a given. I mean Blake Snell led the AL in Wins, ERA, Batting Average Against and was 2nd in WHIP. The only other competitor in this award should be Justin Verlander and he once again had a Verlander type season. But there’s no way you can overshadow what Blake Snell did, especially with the Rays team who was overshadowed by so many to begin this season. He single handedly was a W every time they took the field. Hats off to Mr.Snell.

NL Manager of the Year- Craig Counsell

This should again be a no brainer in my opinion, Craig Counsell led the Milwaukee Brewers to the best record in the NL and to the NLCS practically against all odds. Their bullpen led the way for them all season long and Counsell seemed to plug players in whenever needed to guarantee a win. The front office made plenty of quality moves for him to be successful and bring on veteran players towards the end of their playoff run to give them their best chance to win the Pennant. The 2nd option in my opinion would be Brian Snitker from the Braves, leading them to the NL East Title almost 2 years above schedule. The Braves will be good for years to come, they lack a few solid arms and they will be back to being a force.

AL Manager of the Year- Alex Cora

I mean is there every any question as to who should win this award. Rookie Manager leading the Red Sox to a MLB Best 108 wins during the regular season and a World Series Championship. There should be no arguments here as to who is the obvious choice for this award. It pains me deeply to say that a Red Sox person should win an award and I will admit twice in this article (stay tuned) Kevin Cash and Bob Melvin can flip for 2nd place, both did an amazing job with their respective teams to get them to where they were. Oakland was 3 wins away from 100 victories and once again they had an early exit in the Postseason courtesy of my Yankees.

NL MVP- Christian Yelich

They are trying to make this a closer race than what it honestly is in my opinion between Baez and Yelich but I think Yelich is hands down the NL MVP. Not only for what he was able to do throughout the entirety of the season but for what he was able to do for the Brewers down the stretch to claim the NL Central Crown and lead them to the NLCS. Yelich led in practically every offensive category outside of OBP (Joey Votto was 1st-no shock there and Brandon Nimmo was 2nd-who has 100+ AB’s less than Yelich) Yelich led in HR’s, AVG, SLG, OPS and was second in Runs and RBI’s. He had an absolutely incredible season and I believe he was the best player in the NL all season long.

AL MVP – Mookie Betts

I think the biggest shocker to me in this scenario was that Mookie’s teammate (JD Martinez) was left off of the ballot here. That would’ve been his biggest competition when it came down to it, don’t get me wrong Mike Trout and Jose Ramirez are great players/options but there’s no way JD Martinez isn’t one of the Top 3 players in the AL. So yes, Mookie wins AL MVP. *drinks bleach to numb the pain*
